Red Level Heat Alert

  • Keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm
  • Plan physical activity for cooler times of day
  • Keep homes cool by closing windows and curtains in sun-facing rooms
  • Wear suitable clothing, hats and sunglasses, and use sunscreen outdoors
  • Drink plenty of fluids and limit alcohol and caffeine
  • Check on older neighbours, relatives and friends
  • Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, and seek help if symptoms develop

Heat exhaustion can include tiredness, dizziness, headache, nausea and excessive sweating. If symptoms worsen or do not improve, heatstroke is a medical emergency and urgent help is required.

Hypothyroidism review

For many people with an underactive thyroid, taking thyroxine medication is a simple treatment. If you are well and stable, we may be able to monitor your health without you visiting the surgery.

If this applies to you and you are not on any other tablets that need to be monitored, fill out this form before your medication runs out. We will tell you if we can repeat your medication for another 9 to 12 months.
