Increased demand on practice services

We would like to make patients aware that we are currently experiencing
approximately 20% more demand for appointments and clinical services compared to the same period last year. In addition, as is normal during the summer period, some of our clinicians are taking annual leave, which can reduce appointment availability at certain times.

Our teams are working extremely hard to ensure patients continue to receive safe and appropriate care. We would therefore ask patients to consider the most suitable service for their needs before contacting the practice.

You may not need a GP appointment if:

✅ Self-care at home is appropriate for minor illnesses such as coughs, colds, sore throats, mild viral infections, minor injuries, or stomach upsets.
✅ Your local pharmacist can help through the Pharmacy First service, which provides advice and treatment for a range of common conditions without the need to see a GP.
✅ Your condition is urgent but not life-threatening and may be more appropriately seen at a Minor Injury Unit (MIU).

Please contact the practice if:

  • You have an ongoing medical condition that requires GP or nurse review.
  • Your symptoms are worsening, persistent, or causing concern.
  • You have been advised by another healthcare professional to contact your GP.
  • You feel your condition requires assessment by a member of our clinical team.

By choosing the most appropriate service, you can help us ensure GP and nursing appointments remain available for those patients with the greatest clinical need.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support.
