Lana Stevens – Registered Mental Health Nurse BSc (hons)

I joined the NHS in 2004, working at a local mental health hospital. I have always had a keen passion for Mental Health. I have worked my way through various roles from administration to health care assistant and onto my full qualification as a Mental Health Registered Nurse.

Having worked at Wotton Lawn Hospital for over 10 years, I took the opportunity to move into a community role as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, including managing a team. Working in the Crisis team gave meinvaluable experience working with a wide range of mental health conditions and needs.

One of my proudest achievements was implementing the first Police Triage Service, which was a notable success, firstly for patients but also for our colleagues in the Police force. The result being we could try to ensure people were receiving the right care from the right people at the right time.

I then moved back into clinical practice and wanted to use my experience to support Primary Care (GP Surgeries). It is exciting and encouraging to see the important work that goes into supporting people in Primary Care. Using my skills and knowledge, I seek to help patients and staff navigate the vast levels of services with the goal of making a very real difference in people’s wellbeing.

Patients who are not currently under the care of mental health services can choose to make an appointment with me to discuss their mental health needs. I can offer both Telephone and Face to Face Appointments and my appointments are of a longer duration than a GP’s.

I am a proud Leeds United supporter; enjoy carp fishing and I must admit to watching just a little too much reality TV!

*Lana is employed by the Cheltenham Peripheral Primary Care Network and we have the benefit of her experience and support two days a week here at Cleevelands. She has both routine and same day appointments.
