GP Partners

Dr Holly Ash – Female, MBBCh MRCGP 2011
I completed my Undergraduate Training at the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff, graduating in 2006. Following this I moved to Gloucestershire and completed my Foundation Years and then completed my GP Training locally, finishing in 2011. Prior to joining the Cleevelands Team in October 2021,I worked as a GP Partner in Worcestershire.

I enjoy the variety of General Practice – in particular Paediatrics and Palliative Care, I am also the Practice lead for those patients with Learning Disabilities registered at Cleevelands.

Outside of work, I live in Cheltenham with my husband and three children, who keep me rather busy! I also can be found on the Netball Court, out walking in our beautiful surrounding countryside, or attempting to bake at home!

Dr Chris Brookes – Male, MBChB MRCGP PGCert, PGDip
Dr Brookes trained at Bristol University and qualified in 2012. He did his post graduate training in Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals before working in Emergency Medicine in both the UK and Queensland, Australia. After returning to the UK he completed GP training in Gloucestershire and is thoroughly enjoying the variety that general practice brings. Dr Brookes joined the practice in 2020. Alongside general practice he has a special interest in cardiology and has completed a diploma in specialist interest cardiology. He performs additional work as part of the community heart failure service. He lives in Cheltenham, with his wife and two children. He is a keen cyclist and enjoys getting out into the Cotswolds on his bike.

Dr Ed Fitzgerald – Male, BMBS, MRCGP, MRCEM, DTM&H.
“I graduated from Peninsula Medical School in 2009 before starting work at hospitals in Plymouth and Exeter. After completing my initial post-graduate training, I worked in Auckland, New Zealand for a couple of years, mainly in Emergency Medicine. I returned to the UK in 2013 and completed a diploma in Tropical Medicine at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine before returning to work in Emergency Medicine until 2016. I then began GP training in Manchester, which I completed in 2019. Outside of work I enjoy running and climbing, although I have neglected both of these after the arrival of my two children who now take up all of my time!”

Dr Richard Gracie – Male, MbChB Bsc (Hons)
Dr Gracie qualified in 2012 from University of Birmingham, having previously completed a degree in biology at the University of Bath in 2005. He completed training in general practice in Gloucestershire in 2016, and his areas of interest are ENT, oncology and palliative care. He lives in Cheltenham and has a young family and enjoys cycling and keeping fit.

Dr Sam Tilley (Senior GP Partner) – Male, MbChB MRCGP
‘I qualified as a doctor from Sheffield University in 2008 and started working at the practice in April 2018. I live in Cheltenham with my wife and three young children. I thoroughly enjoy the mixed bag that is General Practice but I have a special interest in Acute and Urgent Care and have further qualifications in this area. In my spare time I enjoy cycling and spending time with my family as well as helping out as a Beaver Scout Leader in my local Scout group.’

Dr Annie Connor – BMBS, MRCGP, DipIBLM

I graduated from Peninsula Medical School in 2009 and completed my foundation training in Bristol. Following this I worked in Auckland, New Zealand for a couple of years gaining experience predominantly in acute and emergency medicine. Upon returning to the UK I had developed more of an interest in holistic and preventative medicine. I gained experience in Oncology and Palliative Care before completing my GP training in the Greater Manchester area. I enjoy the day-to-day variety of general practice but have a particular enthusiasm for lifestyle medicine and how this can impact health and wellbeing.

I live in Cheltenham with my husband and 2 young children. I enjoy the outdoors, particularly hiking and swimming at the Lido.

Dr Clare Cook – GP, Female

MBChB MRCGP (2010) DCH MBiochem (hons)

“I had always wanted to be a doctor. I initially studied for a Masters in Biochemistry at the University of Bath. On completion of that I went on to work at the Liverpool Tropical School of Medicine, before accepting a place for graduate medicine at the University of Bristol. Successfully graduating in 2010, I then worked in acute specialties including Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care. I made the decision to move towards General Practice as my speciality, as I was keen to provide good continuity of care for patients. So I completed my General Practice training in 2016. I especially enjoy all aspects of women’s & child health plus dermatology. I live in Cheltenham with my husband and two young daughters. Outside of work I enjoy escaping into the countryside, running and making a mess in the kitchen.”

Dr Julie Jackson – GP, Female MB BS BSc MRCGP (1996)

I trained at Kings College London, qualifying in 1990.

I completed all my postgraduate training in Gloucestershire in 1995 and since then have worked as both a partner and salaried GP in Cheltenham.

I enjoy all aspects of general practice and particularly value continuity of care for patients.

I have also been involved with training medical students from Bristol University.

On a more personal level I live with my husband and have two adult sons and I volunteer at Sudeley Castle, attend regular dance classes and enjoy growing my own vegetables.

Dr Alison Macrae – GP, Female
Dr Macrae trained at the Birmingham Medical School, qualifying in 2011. After her foundation jobs in the Midlands she moved to Gloucestershire for GP training and loved this beautiful area so much she stayed!

“I enjoy all areas of general practice but have a particular interest in looking after elderly patients, having previously had experience working in a community hospital. When not at work I love cooking, reading, yoga and am a fair-weather cyclist!”

Luis De Sousa – Advanced Care Practitioner

Luis studied in Portugal initially, and then the UK..

Luis has experience in Emergency Departments and Primary care in Portugal and he has lead clinics in Leg Ulcers, Mini surgical procedures and physical rehabilitation.

Since coming to the UK in 2014, he has worked in Cardiology, Emergency Departments as an Emergency Nurse qualifying as an ENP and then whilst working at Cheltenham General Hospital – he also studied to become an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Luis then joined us from Gloucester Royal Hospital.

Luis lives with his wife and four children in Cheltenham. In his spare time, his interests are gardening are DIY.
